Before: “The pen is mightier than the sword” but now: “The ‘Pen’ is the Sword!” …meet “The Pen Knife!”

Before: “The pen is mightier than the sword” but now: “The ‘Pen’ is the Sword!” …meet “The Pen Knife!”

the pen

the pen comes in different colors (also available in blue, gold, and silver)

After a very long wait it has finally arrived…

Now, we just wanted to give you a quick review of these “cool” ball point pens finally made available here at a store in Iligan City.

One could have always ordered it online before but the wait has finally paid off, I mean, getting 3 pens for the price of one… that’s nice.

That’s how ordering one pen online plus shipping would have cost a year or two ago.

Now, behold… “The Pen knife!”

Yes, these babies do work, as a pen one can use it for writing or pulling off the pen’s upper tube with one hand while holding the lower tube with another… will reveal a small blade that one can use for certain situations, like maybe, defending one’s self from an attack.

Dimensions:

The pens measurement from the tip of the nib to the tip of the finial is around 13.5 cm (5.31″) long and it is 1 cm thick (0.39″).

When separated the upper tube is about 7.6 cm (2.99″) and the lower tube with the blade included is 13.3 cm (5.23″).

The blade is around 6 cm (2.36″) in length, 0.7 cm (0.27″) wide as it joins the collar,  and is 0.12 cm (0.04″) thick at the spine.

The Ricasso measures 0.9 cm (0.35″) long and the cutting edge is 5.1 cm (2″).

The length of the lower tube which serves as the handle and includes the nib is around 6 cm (2.36″) and contains the refill, the collar is 1.3 cm (0.51″).

The edge is sharpened only on one side, is no double blade, and is not full tang… but it goes all the way into the full length of the collar which ends in line with the pen’s not so center, center band.

The pen works with a twist mechanism and has a clip one can use to clip it anywhere one wants… on ones shirt or any pocket on ones pants.

The knife is small… however, whether it’s big or small, both are capable of inflicting damage… if one knows how to use it.

If one needs to defend oneself using the pen knife, i.e., deployed… well, it’s good for slashing and executing quick jabs on soft targets.

Otherwise, under stress of the situation, and having no time to pull out the knife, one can also use the pen like a “kubaton“.

For ease of use and quick access, if placed in ones pants pocket, position it upside down, with the nib of the pen facing skywards so one can easily grab it holding the lower tube and pull out the knife quickly then it’s ready for action.

These babies are cool but one should always remember to mind where one’s going with it… keen eyed security personnel might see it as it shows up on an airport’s x-ray machine and boy, you got yourself some explaining to do…

…as one incident tells of an airplane hijacker who managed to take hostage and kill a plane crew armed only with a 2″ pocket knife by slashing where it counted.

Lastly, keep it close and use it for writing your signature only, to save on ink because specific refills are not sold in the market yet…

…and remember to keep it out of children’s reach.
